Technology News carries a story about Morristown, Tennessee’s fiber build: Local Utility Installs Fiber-to-Home Network. It looks like Lafayette doesn’t have a corner on the feisty mayor market; read what Morristown Mayor Gary Johnson says:
‘You have an industry that Congress has said we can’t regulate,’ Johnson said. ‘If we can’t regulate them and they won’t operate the way they ought to … you have no choice. If you’re going to protect your citizens, you have to go into the business.’
Charter Cable doesn’t agree, of course. It sounds a lot like our story here in Louisiana.
