LUS Fiber Email Details Current Service

LUS Fiber sent out another email to folks on their list recently. It is reproduced below. This one gives some detail about the areas within phase one in which it is possible to order services. There are three elipses in north Lafayette (2 around Louisiana and one east of Pinhook) and two in south Lafyette (near the mall).

LUS Fiber is now serving customers throughout the City of Lafayette! Once access to Lafayette’s only 100% fiber optic network is available to your home, you will be invited to switch your video, Internet and phone services to LUS Fiber.

Currently LUS Fiber is serving homes in the general areas circled below. If you live in or around these locations, call 99-FIBER (993-4237) or visit us at 705 W. University Avenue to speak with one of our customer service representatives to determine if your home is ready for service and to learn about our product offerings. So start planning your switch.   1. It would be worth a try if you are in phase 1, yet not in the circles they show. I live on Grand Ave (between Broadmoor and Camellia) and they are doing installs there even though it is not published. Main difference I think is that it is overhead. Between Grand and Camellia is all underground.

  2. I had the service installed Monday. Full 50/50, Premium TV/DVR, Full Phone. Took 3 hours and the work crew (2) were great. Note that in order for me to get 50/50, I had to hook the fiber straight to my workstation. The Linksys router would cut me down to 20/10 or so. I am going to test with a Cisco later. The phone service is excellent. The TV unit really requires a 16:9 set up. My 4:3 HD box is passable but trust me…get the letterbox set. DVR service is excellent with % of drive space left, etc. Very happy with it so far.

  3. I can't wait until I can get Fiber in my home. I am in the last phase. They installed it a few weeks ago and I am going to give them a call soon. I can't wait until I can be rid of Cox and their aweful and expensive rates. A couple of months ago my box went out. I took it to Cox and they gave me another after I sat for 2 hours in line. I got home and that box didn't work. Went the next day and sat for 1 1/2 hours and I watched the lady behind the counter look in the closet behind her for a new box. There were no boxes in the "closet" so she went in the back to look for one. She came back empty handed so she picked up one off of the floor next to her desk that someone had just turned in. She picked it up and sprayed the dust off of it and gave it to me and said that it worked fine. I get home and guess what…. nope.. it didn't work. So after 3 attempts I called for service and explained what I had been through. They said that they would send a tech out and would not charge me. The tech installs a new box and it worked fine, but when I got my bill, gues what…. Yep, they charged me. They apologized when I called and took it off of my bill. They were just seeing if I would pay it. If I hadn't noticed it and payed it they would have stole my money. They did the same thing when I initially signed up for service. They didn't give me the promised discount until I called them after 4 months of service. I never looked at my bill, I just paid it. Then when I called the gave me credit.

    You have to watch those sneaky B*astards because they will rip you off in a drop of a dime!
